Thursday afternoon, Jim McElwain released a three-tweet statement on his departure from Colorado State to be the head coach at Florida:
From the bottom of my heart, I want to thank Ram Nation for all you've done for me. I've met some truly amazing & loyal fans here. (1/3)

I am so proud of this team and what they've accomplished. They believed in #TheClimb and have set a standard for the future of @CSUFootball.

I am excited and honored to be the head football coach for the University of Florida, but will carry the Rams with me forever. (3/3)

Yes, McElwain is a coach leaving his team before its bowl game. But as these sorts of departures go, McElwain's way of walking out the door — which also reportedly included a 9:15 a.m. meeting with his players in Fort Collins on Thursday — strikes me as a pretty dignified way to do it.
