2014 National Signing Day: Treon Harris flips to Florida from FSU

Jimbo Fisher's track record for evaluating quarterbacks is tremendous. Florida just scooped up one of his potential pupils.

Florida pulled off one of the biggest coups of National Signing Day 2014 on Wednesday morning when Booker T. Washington quarterback Treon Harris officially flipped his pledge from Florida State to the Gators.

Harris was a longtime FSU commit, but Florida made a strong push for him down the stretch, led by new offensive coordinator Kurt Roper, and a pitch likely revolving around how well Harris — more of a spread quarterback than anything at this point — would fit the Gators' new offense.

That pitch swayed Harris, who becomes the final piece of maybe the nation's best recruiting class at quarterback by joining ballyhooed early enrollee Will Grier and mobile Tampa passer Deiondre Porter — likely to play a position other than QB in college — in the fold. And Florida needed to stock up quarterback depth behind Jeff Driskel this year, with injuries ravaging the position in 2013 and torpedoing the Gators' season.

With Harris grabbing a seat at the table next to Grier, that need has been met, and then some.
