After a couple years on the outside looking in, the women's basketball version of the Florida Gators is back in the NCAA Tournament.
Florida, which rolled up a 19-12 record and finished fifth in the brutal SEC, was placed in the Stanford Regional as the No. 11 seed, and will play No. 6 Dayton in the first round at Penn State on Sunday, March 23. If Florida upsets the Flyers, the Nittany Lions, No. 3 in the Stanford Regional, likely await in the round of 32.
Florida could meet Florida State, No. 10 in the Stanford Regional, if it manages to make the Sweet Sixteen, but is far more likely to see national title contender Stanford in Palo Alto if it snags two wins.
The NCAA Tournament berth is Florida's first since 2012. Florida upset No. 8 Ohio State as a No. 9 seed in the 2012 NCAA Tournament before being bounced from the dance by No. 1 seed and eventual national champion Baylor.
The team's Twitter account posted this video of the players reacting to their seed while watching the NCAA Tournament selection show at coach Amanda Butler's house.
