A Pasco High defensive tackle with the last name Ivie committed to Florida on Thursday.
No, you're not reading the story we wrote on Joey Ivie committing to the Gators in 2012 — this one's about his younger brother Andrew, a three-star defensive tackle who committed to Florida, according to Gator Country's Andrew Spivey.
The elder Ivie has been a promising tweener defensive lineman for Florida so far, playing both defensive end and defensive tackle as a reserve late in his freshman season after bulking up in Gainesville. Taking Ivie's similarly regarded younger brother is taking a player who could be basically the same guy for Florida down the line — and there are worse things than serviceable, dependable defensive linemen, especially in the SEC, where depth on the line is critical.
And the younger Ivie looks plenty serviceable in his junior year highlights:
He also impresses in the three 1-on-1 reps he got at the Nike Football Training Camp Orlando in this video. (Ivie's three snaps are the fourth, fifth, and sixth in the video, but you might want to check out the first three of the video, which show Florida target Byron Cowart and Florida target Martez Ivey going head to head.)
Ivie's commitment brings Florida to eight for the class of 2015.
