The first day of the NCAA East Preliminary round is in the books and the Florida Gators track and field teams appear to be in good shape. Four Gators athletes have qualified for the NCAA Championships due to their Friday results and will be joining Brittany Harrell in Eugene, Oregon next month.

Marquis Dendy, Fawn Miller, Mariga Vucenovic and Stipe Zunic all punched their tickets and look to be joined by many others over the next two days. Harrell had been set to go to the NCAA's since her heptathlon performance at the 2014 Texas Relays.

Dendy qualified in the men's long jump with a 7.82m jump that was the top distance in the east region. Dendy will also be looking to qualify in the triple jump, where he's been up and down throughout the year. Zunic qualified for the NCAA Championships in the men's shot put by throwing a school record (breaking his own) 20.60m that was also the second best throw in the NCAA this year.

Miller took home top results in the women's javelin with a best throw of 57.93m on her second throw. Vucenovic also qualified for the women's javelin finals in Eugene with her seventh-place finish in Jacksonville. Her throw of 50.69m was inside the top-12 and leaves the Gators in good shape heading into the second day of qualifying.

The action from Jacksonville's Hodges Stadium continues today at 10:00 a.m. ET with the men's hammer throw as David Levin and Kyle Strawn are set to begin the day for the Gators. The rest of the Gators' contingent will get to work at around 5:00 p.m. ET today as most of the track events are set to either continue or begin for the first time.
