Florida announced one incredibly welcome piece of news Friday afternoon: Its 2014 season opener against Idaho will kick off at 7 p.m. on August 30, making it a night game.
The news comes via ESPNU, which will televise the game. Florida's last game on ESPNU was its 24-7 win over Kentucky in 2013. The Gators also opened the 2011 season on ESPNU, defeating Florida Atlantic by a 41-3 count. That game, too, kicked off at 7 p.m.
We previously learned on May 1 that Florida's games against Eastern Michigan and Kentucky would be televised by the SEC Network. Florida will kick off at 4 p.m. against Eastern Michigan, and will play Kentucky at 7:30 p.m. All three games will be played in The Swamp.
Florida's tweeted response to this news is also amusing:
Turn down for what?! Night games in The Swamp!! #Gators vs Idaho at 7 pm on Aug 30 pic.twitter.com/7gXeyKPwoO

I get referencing "Turn Down For What," because that meme's only about three months past its best by date, but doing that while also using TURN UP THE LIGHTS in a graphic is muffing a Future reference while making a slightly moldy Lil Jon reference.
And, while I'm critiquing Florida-issued PR stuff: Just stop with the arbitrary bolding of the font. Either bold letters or don't.
Still, though: NIGHT GAME.
