The Florida Gators are in a tussle with the Missouri Tigers in Columbia. Florida leads Missouri 14-3 by virtue of two Kelvin Taylor touchdowns. After an opening touchdown drive, and another touchdown in the first quarter, the Gators offense has stalled a few times in the second, leaving some points on the field with a missed Jorge Powell field goal.
Will Grier has taken all but two of the snaps at quarterback, with Treon Harris coming in and carrying the ball twice for eight yards. Grier is 15/22 for 154 yards. Florida has spread the ball around through the air with seven different players catching passes, and four of them catching multiple balls. The Gators have 91 rushing yards, with 74 of those belonging to Kelvin Taylor, who is averaging 5 yards a carry. Taylor has been the workhorse for the offense in the first half.
The Gators defense has bent but not broken, allowing Missouri freshman quarterback Drew Lock to complete half of his passes for 95 yards. Missouri also has tallied 42 yards on the ground. Florida has two sacks and one interception so far this evening, holding Missouri 0/5 on third down. The Gators defense held Missouri to field goals twice but Andrew Baggett missed a 53 yarder and Missouri has only been able to put 3 points on the board so far.
After Georgia's loss to Tennessee today, Florida has a chance to take a commanding lead in the SEC East with a win. Can the Gators finish strong and exorcise the demons of homecomings past by spoiling Missouri's homecoming? We'll find out.
