College football rankings: Florida drops to No. 13 in AP Poll, No. 14 in Coaches Poll

The Gators drop, but they're still very much alive in the big picture.

In the aftermath of their 35-28 defeat at the hands of LSU, the Gators have dropped down in the Week 8 Coaches Poll from No. 11 to No. 14. The drop isn't too dramatic, which makes sense: The Tigers are now No. 5 in the same poll.

The AP Poll was slightly kinder to the Gators this week, moving the Gators back from No. 8 to No. 13, though their five-spot drop was larger than in the coaches' poll. Florida slid behind one-loss Alabama and Stanford and unbeaten Iowa in both polls, and behind one-loss Oklahoma State in the AP voters' eyes

Two of Florida's remaining opponents appear in the coaches poll, with Florida State sitting at No. 9 and Georgia sliding back into the poll at No. 25. Among future Florida foes, only FSU is ranked in this week's AP Poll.

The Gators will meet up with the Bulldogs on Halloween, likely with the fate of the SEC East at stake, and then have a low-pressure stretch of games to vault themselves back up the polls heading into their date with Florida State.
