A beautiful thing is happening down in the Swamp. At the half #25 Florida leads #3 Ole Miss 25 to 0.
Despite having the flu this week, Will Grier has taken all the snaps at quarterback for the Gators. And oh what snaps they have been. Grier is 17/20 for 229 yards and a career high four touchdown passes. The Gators have spread it around offensively, with four different receivers catching touchdown passes: Demarcus Robinson, Brandon Powell, Jake McGee and Antonio Callaway. About the only things that went poorly for the Gators were a missed extra point and two failed two-point conversion attempts. (And perhaps some interesting officiating) Florida has almost double the yards (296) of Ole Miss.
Ole Miss has moved the ball some but has not been able to finish their drives, going just one for six on third down. The Florida defense has held Ole Miss to 151 total yards and recorded 3 sacks in the first half. The Gator defense has played fast, aggressive and inspiring.
This is about as good of a start to the game as Florida could have hoped for. If Florida keeps up the intensity and execution from the first half this could end up being a very special game for the Gators.
