Florida vs. Georgia, Game Thread, second half: Gritty Gators

Florida leads Georgia 20-0 at the half. Can the Gators keep the Bulldogs in check in the second half and treat Gator Nation to a Halloween win?

It wasn't always pretty but Florida leads Georgia 20-0 at the half. The Gators have taken advantage of Georgia turnovers and mistakes, scoring two of their three touchdowns on a muffed punt recovery and a short field via Vernon Hargreaves interception. The other score came virtue of a Treon Harris pass to Antonio Callaway for a 66 yard touchdown. Again the kicking leaves something to be desired as Austin Hardin missed a field goal and had an extra point blocked. Treon Harris has struggled in the passing game as well, going just 3 for 12 but has amassed 97 yards, mostly by virtue of that Callaway touchdown and a 25 yarder to C'yontai Lewis on the opening drive.

The Bulldogs are scoreless in the first half against the Gators for the first time since 2006. Florida's defense has held Georgia to just 15 yards rushing. Faton Bauta got his first "start" for the Bulldogs (Sony Michel took the first snap in the wildcat) and has thrown two interceptions. Bauta was ballyhooed for his scrambling ability, and that was presumably why he received the start, but so far he has only been able to garner seven yards on two carries.

For the second half, the Gators will look to find more rhythm on offense and keep up their defensive intensity. Georgia could also make a change at quarterback in the second half looking for a spark. If the Gators can hold on and win, they can become the SEC East champions next week by defeating Vanderbilt.
