Florida's injury list expands: After what was a relatively healthy year for Florida through two months, the injuries have begun to pile up for the Gators.
Jim McElwain said Monday that defensive tackle Joey Ivie will be out for Florida's game against South Carolina, Jonathan Bullard is "probably doubtful" with "an arm deal," Keanu Neal is questionable because of a foot injury, and offensive tackle David Sharpe is "day-to-day." Martez Ivey, though, is "good to go" — and given that he played virtually all of Florida's game against Vanderbilt, that's not surprising.
It's also not surprising that Florida's injury report would expand toward the end of a season. Nicks and bruises that maybe didn't merit an appearance on the injury report when Florida was striving to win the SEC East can be treated with little to no risk over the next two weeks: All that's on the line, really, is Florida's standing in the College Football Playoff selection committee's eyes, because no win over the lowly Gamecocks and/or Florida Atlantic, no matter how lopsided, will sway those selectors.
Florida can't lose either of those games and make the Playoff, of course, and it might well have a challenge on its hands in Columbia, given that South Carolina has rediscovered its offense over its last two games. But the Gators can probably win that game with a somewhat limited roster. Probably.
