Gators looking for first win in Columbia since 2009: Which was also the last time the Gators won the SEC East. South Carolina has won four of the last five against Florida, with the Gators' lone win coming in 2012. (Anthony Chiang, Palm Beach Post)

Bulletin board material:

"We can hurt their season. That's what we want to do. We want to go out there and hurt their record. We like that." - Gamecocks nickel back T.J. Gurley

Defensive line injuries could be an issue at South Carolina: Jim McElwain says Jonathan Bullard is "highly questionable". If Bullard can't go, the Gators would be down to three scholarship tackles, since Joey Ivie and Thomas Holley are also out with injuries. CeCe Jefferson would likely move inside in Bullard's absence and Bryan Cox, Jr. could see time at tackle as well. The good news injury wise? David Sharpe and Keanu Neal have been practicing and should be good to go for Saturday. (Robbie Andreu, Gainesville Sun)

Florida's defensive line has been dominant: And a big reason for the Gators' defensive success this year. The Gators are currently sixth in the nation in total defense. (Anthony Chiang, SEC Country)

"We say it's going to be a party in the backfield," defensive end Alex McCalister said. "What you bringing? I'm bringing chips. You're bringing drinks."

Mike White era begins for Florida basketball: The Gators' season begins tonight at Navy. Florida has won 24 straight season openers but Navy could present a challenge. (Alex Maminakis, Independent Florida Alligator)

Jim McElwain's last memory of playing at South Carolina is not a good one: The last time McElwain coached at South Carolina was in 2010 when he served as Alabama's offensive coordinator. Steve Spurrier and the Gamecocks upset the undefeated reigning National Champion Alabama Crimson Tide that day 35-21. Spurrier reminded McElwain of that victory when the two flew together to ESPN for the SEC Car Wash. (Robbie Andreu, Gainesville Sun)

Steve Spurrier is voting Jim McElwain for Coach of the Year: And yes, it pains me to link a Bianchi article. (Mike Bianchi, Orlando Sentinel)

Marcus Maye's unselfish play is a critical part of the Florida defense: Maye is fourth on the team in tackles and tied for second in interceptions. He has also played linebacker roles for the Gators in certain packages due to the depth issues at that position. (Luis Torres, Independent Florida Alligator)

What are your plans for another early kick for the Gators on Saturday? I think a fair amount of AAers have mentioned that they are going to be up at the game in South Carolina.

The comments are yours.
