It feels like we start this article with the same sentence every other week, but why mess with what's working?
It was ugly, but the Florida Gators escaped Saturday's action with yet another victory, using overtime to eventually put the stamp on another win over the Florida Atlantic Owls, 20-14.
Was it ugly and tough to watch? You betcha. Was it also yet another win to add to the résumé? You betcha.
It was an unexpectedly wild day of college football on Saturday, and one that will have major playoff implications. Let's just run down the list of what who won and who lost inside the top-25.
Winners: No 1. Clemson, No. 2 Alabama, No. 4 Notre Dame, No. 5 Iowa, No. 7 Oklahoma, No. 8 Florida, No. 9 Michigan State
Losers: No. 3 Ohio State, No. 6 Oklahoma State
The committee has been looking for a reason to drop Ohio State for some time, and now they actually have reason enough to do it. However, will they be harsh enough to drop them below Florida? The Gators' best win right now is over Ole Miss, with their lone loss coming to LSU. The Buckeyes' best win is ... Penn State? While their loss came at the hands of the only ranked team they've played, Michigan State. Ohio State is still a very talented team, but can the committee truly keep them ahead of a Florida team has a better strength of schedule?
How about Oklahoma State? The Cowboys lost to Baylor this past week, but beat TCU two weeks earlier. Is a loss enough to drop them to No. 8 or No. 9?
It's nearly a guarantee that Florida won't be making a big jump, but a move to No. 6 or No. 7 is completely plausible. What do you think? Where will the Gators be ranked in the week 12 polls?
