2017 point guard Shai Alexander has committed to Florida, as originally reported by Evan Daniels of Scout and confirmed by The Gainesville Sun's Kevin Brockway.
Alexander (6-3, 175) visited UF over Thanksgiving and attended Vermont game. Has decent upside as athletic playmaker.

Alexander, a Canadian from Hamilton, Ontario currently attending high school in Chattanooga, was offered by Florida just two weeks ago.
In this highlight mix from December 2014 compiled by his former high school, Sir Allen MacNab Prep in Hamilton, Alexander shows off some decent ball skills and vision for a point guard (and especially a lanky one), but also appears to have a funky shot and a ton of work to do to get strong enough to play point guard in high-major college basketball.
Alexander's also unknown enough that he isn't yet rated by any of the major scouting services. And while he's a ways from enrolling and seems to have largely spent his career to date outside of the scouting and recruiting system, both of which could explain the his lack of regard from the industry, Mike White nabbing Alexander now is the sort of move that seems likely to puzzle Florida fans until he sees the floor or gets some stars, especially given the relatively low profile the Gators have maintained on the recruiting trail since White's hiring.
