Despite Florida's avant-garde interpretation of offense on Saturday night against Florida State, a new player sees himself as part of the Gators' picture on that side of the ball. JUCO wide receiver Dre Massey committed to Florida on Sunday morning, with Jim McElwain's confirming #ChompChomp tweet coming only a minute before Luke Stampini reported Massey's pledge.
Massey spent the weekend on his official visit to Florida.

Massey currently attends Holmes Community College in Meridian, Mississippi, and is rated as a three-star prospect by the 247Sports Composite, which also regards him as the No. 40 JUCO prospect in the 2016 class. Massey was a two-star prospect from Mauldin, South Carolina in the 2014 class, and originally signed with East Carolina.
On film, Massey shows excellent quickness and speed on sweeps — but his offense appears to be one in which that's how he does most of his receiving of the football.
Massey is Florida's 24th commitment for the 2016 class, and the Gators' fifth wide receiver commit (though Isaiah Johnson, who counts as one of those five, may play more of a flex tight end role for the Gators). And more could be coming: Florida's considered the leader for five-star wideout Nate Craig-Myers, and is at least in the running for four-stars Sam Bruce, Tre Nixon, and Benjimin Victor, all of whom are in-state prospects.
While Florida's offensive staff doesn't seem to trust many of its wideouts at the moment beyond Antonio Callaway, the overhaul of the position that is seemingly coming with the 2016 recruiting class may change that quickly.
