It wasn't easy or pretty, but the Florida Gators defeated the Vanderbilt Commodores on Saturday to push their record to 8-1 and to assure themselves a spot in the SEC Championship Game. It was a struggle throughout, as the Vanderbilt defense proved to be every bit as tough as the numbers suggested they would be, but the Gators were able to get the job done in the end, and that's all that matters. Especially when you consider the rest of the top-10 this weekend.
Every top-10 team was in action in week 10, and they did not all escape the weekend with victories. No. 2 LSU fell to No. 4 Alabama, and while that normally wouldn't be enough to knock a team out of the top-10, the fashion in which the Crimson Tide dominated this game may be enough to do so. No. 7 Michigan State was dealt their first loss of the season, falling to lowly Nebraska in controversial fashion. Finally, No. 8 TCU was run over by the No. 14 Oklahoma State Cowboys, who may have earned themselves a top-6 ranking in the process.
Even of the teams that did win inside of the top-10, many of them won uncomfortably, just like the Gators. No. 6 Baylor narrowly survived Kansas State, No. 3 Ohio State was in a precarious position late against Minnesota, and No. 9 Iowa only defeated Indiana by a touchdown.
All of that being said, do you think the Gators will benefit from the chaotic weekend that was? How far do you think they'll move up?
