Florida's seniors will decide if Demarcus Robinson returns for Saturday's SEC Championship Game: Jim McElwain says that the seniors, who are "the leaders of our family", will meet and decide Robinson's fate. Robinson "made a choice" which led to his suspension for the FSU game. (ESPN; Kevin McGuire, NBC Sports)
Jim McElwain supports Treon Harris, recognizes that his play needs to improve: McElwain will look for ways to help Harris be successful against Alabama. Will he be asked to run more against the Crimson Tide? After solid performances against LSU and Georgia, Harris has struggled in three of the last four games (excluding South Carolina). Harris has completed 49.4 percent of his passes in those games, with two touchdowns and four turnovers. His longest completion in those contests was 15 yards, just one of three completions to go for more than ten yards. (Edgar Thompson, Orlando Sentinel; Thomas Goldkamp, 247 Sports)
Win or lose, getting to the SEC Championship Game in McElwain's first year is a success: I tend to agree. Especially given some of the issues the Gators were facing and how this season has exceeded expectations. (Graham Hack, Florida Times Union)
Tackling Derrick Henry is, not surprisingly, "no fun": Henry, Alabama's monster running back and presumed Heisman front-runner, ran for 111 yards against the Gators last year. Stopping Henry will be a tall task for Florida, who has allowed 180 yards rushing, both in losses, to the other premier running backs on the Gators' schedule (Florida State's Dalvin Cook and LSU's Leonard Fournette). (Michael Casagrande, Huntsville Times) Henry, who grew up a Gator fan, was also a big Tim Tebow fan. (Michael Casagrande, Huntsville Times)
Recruiting going from "rags to riches" under McElwain: Specifically, the state of recruiting last year prior to McElwain being on campus is being called the "rags" or "joke" here. But, we all know that is what happens with uncertain coaching situations, or coaching changes. Florida's current class is rounding out but several top prospects are still on the Gators' board. (Chris Hays, Orlando Sentinel)
Looking at past Florida vs. Alabama SEC Championship Games: The Gators and the Tide will be meeting for the eighth time in the SEC Championship Game this weekend. Florida currently holds a 4-3 advantage in those match-ups. (Jordan McPherson, Independent Florida Alligator)
SEC Network to have expanded coverage of SEC Championship Game: The network will air the head coaches' press conferences on Friday and The Paul Finebaum Show live from Atlanta. On Saturday, the network will show an SEC Film Room Championship Special and SEC Nation live from Atlanta, as well as re-air the game at 10:00 p.m. (GatorZone)
