An hour after friend Byron Cowart spurned Florida to head to Auburn, fellow Tampa-area prospect Ryan Davis has done the same.
Davis possesses great straight-line speed, and is a consensus four-star recruit in his own right, but he had become sort of a throw-in to Cowart in recent weeks, with many observers predicting that both players would attend the same school — that was my (wrong) reasoning for predicting both to Florida this morning.
Instead, the duo becomes two of three prospects to pick the Tigers — and former Florida coach Will Muschamp — over the Gators on Wednesday morning, salting the wounds of a fanbase that has been spitting fire at Muschamp for the better part of two years, joining Mike Horton, who flipped a Florida commitment to an Auburn one.
One silver lining: Florida is still well-positioned to land Martez Ivey, set to choose between the two schools later Wednesday morning, and CeCe Jefferson, choosing between the two schools, Alabama, and Mississippi this afternoon.
