Martez Ivey commits to Florida over Auburn on National Signing Day 2015

Florida grabs the biggest prize left on its board.

Student Sports

With eight words, Martez Ivey made his dream come true on Wednesday — and gave the Florida Gators one of the biggest prizes in the class of 2015.

I will be attending the University of Florida.

Ivey, rated a consensus five-star prospect and the No. 2 player in the country by the 247Sports Composite rankings, is the nation's top offensive tackle, and a letter-perfect fit for Florida, which desperately needs big-time talent at the position. Ivey stands 6'6" and his broad shoulders portend a terrifying frame for an offensive tackle, but at 275 pounds, he has some weight to add before being an impact player in college.

Playing time, though, was probably a factor in Ivey choosing Florida, at least as much as was proxmity to Apopka. And so he'll need to add that weight in short order to compete for a meaningful role with the Gators as a true freshman in the fall.

Ivey's commitment brings Florida to 16 in the Class of 2015, and is by far the best one in the class. His addition alone should improve Florida's standing in recruiting rankings by as many as 10 places.
