Florida is in the midst of a blistering close, and just keeps adding talent on National Signing Day. The latest pickup: Jordan Cronkrite, who made the call for the Gators in a ceremony at his high school.
Cronkrite, much like his fellow Gator named Jordan, Jordan Scarlett, is a back with speed and size who could be a home-run hitter in the right offense ... but he's also a talented safety, and could end up on either side of the ball in Gainesville. Regarded as a consensus four-star prospect and the No. 16 athlete in the 2015 recruiting class by the 247Sports Composite rankings, Cronkrite chose the Gators over Miami and West Virginia.
Like Scarlett, though, he'd been a Florida lean almost since Jim McElwain's arrival in Gainesville, and seems likely to at least start at running back, where the Gators will be looking for a home run-hitter to complement the sturdier Kelvin Taylor and Adam Lane.
