Florida had missed on a couple big-time playmakers in the 2015 recruiting class early on National Signing Day — but the Gators wouldn't miss on the last one, as Tallahassee Leon athlete D'Anfernee McGriff committed to Florida Wednesday afternoon.
McGriff, apparently the subject of plenty of 11th-hour recruiting, had been an Auburn commitment up until the past weekend, but visited Florida, then decommitted.
And it sounds as if he's picking the place he wants to be:

There are some concerns about McGriff being able to qualify academically, but, if he can get into school, he would certainly have a strong shot at finding a role as a playmaker somewhere on the roster — he's got a mix of strength and (surprising) speed that could make him a dangerous option out of the backfield, and played quarterback for Leon, so he's not lacking for ball skills.
McGriff's commitment brings Florida to 21 in the class of 2015, and seven on the day.
