While spending last weekend at Florida — during which two other players pledged to the Gators — Tyrek Tisdale was expected to make a commitment.
It turns out it just took a little while, as Tisdale committed to Florida this Friday, as first tweeted by 247Sports's Luke Stampini. Scout's Bob Redman has a video interview with Tisdale and additional quotes.
Tisdale, who attends Orlando's Oak Ridge High School, is listed at 6'1" and 199 pounds by 247Sports, and rates as a three-star prospect in the eyes of the 247Sports Composite rankings.
In these highlights, which show Tisdale playing quarterback and running back for Oak Ridge, he shows good acceleration and surprising arm strength.
But Tisdale's future is not as a college quarterback. He'll be a running back, and maybe a scat back, though I look at his tweet announcing his commitment, in which he tagged fellow Florida commits Chauncey Gardner and Spencer Perry (about which more on Saturday), and wonder about his versatility:
I've Officially Committed To The University Of Florida @CoachCollins @CoachMcElwain
@StillDat_ @Black___Jesus7

Gardner profiles as a cornerback, and Perry as a safety; Tisdale is talking to two future members of Florida's defensive backfield. Though he's not playing on that side of the ball now, and will probably start as a do-everything running back, he could be the sort of player who ends up changing positions when he arrives in Gainesville.
Tisdale's commitment brings Florida to eight for the 2016 class.
