Florida comes in unranked in the preseason Amway Coaches Poll for the 2015 season, snagging just two votes from the dozens of
SIDs coaches who vote in the theoretically meaningless prestigious poll.
In an uncanny pair of coincidences, those two votes tie Florida with none other than Georgia Southern, the team that infamously handed the Gators their first loss to an FCS school (in the Eagles' last game as an FCS program) in 2013 — and for 48th place in this preseason poll, recalling the Gators' 4-8 record that year. (North Carolina joins those programs with two votes.)
Florida was last ranked in a preseason poll prior to the 2013 season, having just missed the top 25 both the coaches poll and the AP Poll — neither of which directly factors into the College Football Playoff Selection Committee's rankings — in 2014.
The "good" news: Florida's typically withering schedule may not be quite as loaded with top teams in 2015. Florida is still set to face four top-15 schools (No. 8 Florida State, No. 9 Georgia, No. 13 LSU, and No. 15 Mississippi) and six top-25 programs (the four top-15 teams, No. 23 Missouri, and No. 25 Tennessee), but dodges the three other SEC West teams in the top 20.
