We've still got quite a while to wait until Florida takes on New Mexico State at 7:30 p.m. on SEC Network, and it could be longer still if the predicted thunderstorms end up transpiring. So you will be filling your daylight hours will lots of non-Florida football.
Here are my picks for the two viewing windows before Florida plays.
Early (noon to 3:30 p.m. Eastern)
Stanford at Northwestern (noon, ESPN): It's smart kids vs. smarter kids! And, goodness, this window is bare, unless you like blowouts.
Afternoon (3:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Eastern)
Penn State at Temple (3:30 p.m., ESPN): Temple coach Matt Rhule is a rising star in the sport, but James Franklin's Nittany Lions should be much improved in his second year in Happy Valley. Could be a really close game or a runaway win.
Louisville vs. Auburn (in Atlanta, 3:30 p.m., CBS): A 3:30 p.m. game on CBS in Week 1 is a lot of fun, first, but this is also the game in which Will Muschamp gets revenge on Louisville, or a different Louisville offense shows up a Muschamp defense as a double-digit underdog. You'll be talking about this one this week, I bet.
