The 2016 Under Armour All-America Game kicks off at noon Eastern on Saturday on ESPN2 and WatchESPN, with Team Highlight and Team Armour facing off for cash and prizes bragging rights. And the sizable contingent of future Florida Gators on those teams' rosters means that there might well be and orange and blue hue to the game.
Florida commits Antonneous Clayton, Chauncey Gardner, Josh Hammond, and Brett Heggie will all participate in the game, and all have performed well in practices this week, with Clayton and Hammond standing out as players likely to rise in recruiting rankings after impressive showings. Plenty more Gators targets will be playing in Orlando as well, like wide receivers Tyrie Cleveland and Nate Craig-Myers, defensive tackle Shavar Manuel, former Florida commit and defensive back Jayvaughn Myers, and linebacker Lyndell "Mack" Wilson.
For a list of Florida commits and targets broken down by roster (with roster numbers!), Zach Abolverdi has you covered at SEC Country.
And playing well in the Under Armour All-America Game presaged a fine Florida career for Vernon Hargreaves III, so, yes, there really is plenty to learn from a glorified high school all-star game.
I'll be in and out today — I have a couple other things to do that aren't creating #content before Florida plays Georgia in its SEC opener at 8 p.m. — so this may be the only post until the game thread for that game. If so: Feel free to use it as a weekend open thread.
