Three Gators make Super Bowl 50: Florida was assured of representation in Super Bowl 50 by an AFC Championship Game between two teams with multiple Gators on their rosters. Denver's 20-18 win over the New England Patriots means the Broncos' three Gators — Andre Caldwell, Max Garcia, and Lerentee McCray — will all vie to make 2015 the fifth consecutive season a Gator has won a Super Bowl ring. Denver has to win to do that, though: Erstwhile Gator Cam Newton led the Carolina Panthers past the Arizona Cardinals (and D.J. Humphries), spoiling what would've been a matchup of two teams with Gators.

The purpose of the press: Florida pressed early and often against Auburn, and it proved disruptive against elite shooter/scorer Kareem Canty. (Chris Harry, GatorZone)

Recruiting recaps: Hopefully, I'll have something more late this morning or early this afternoon, but:

  • Five-star defensive end Antonneous Clayton loved his official visit to Florida, and it sounds like he won't visit Florida State next week. (Andrew Spivey, Gator Country)
  • Tight end Nick Eubanks, thought by many to be a Florida lean, didn't make a planned official visit over the weekend, reportedly because he was sick. We'll see if he makes a visit next weekend — or this week. (Zach Abolverdi, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution)
  • A list of predictions on where many of the remaining big names in the Southeast will go has Florida landing only defensive end Brian Burns. (Jamie Newberg, Gridiron Now)
  • Florida targets Elyse Mbem-Bosse and Josh Uche both committed to Michigan on Sunday after official visits this weekend. Whether that's more reflective of Michigan's efforts with both or Florida's space crunch is debatable, but it does pare down Florida's board at linebacker considerably. (Anthony Broome, Maize N Brew)

Jabar Gaffney arrested: Only linking because the felony here is "transportation of drug paraphrenalia"; the weed itself was only a misdemeanor, and I sure as heck don't understand this country's drug laws. (Thomas Goldkamp, 247Sports)

"The Big Cow Con": An enjoyable read, sort of. (Tessa Stuart, The California Sunday Magazine)

The oral history of Kobe Bryant's 81-point night: Andy Dick, the awful human who founded Girls Gone Wild a supremely pissed Mike James, an amusingly jerky Sasha Vujacic, a grateful (!) Matt Bonner, and Kobe's grandmother all make appearances. (Arash Markazi, ESPN)
