Five-star linebacker Lyndell "Mack" Wilson won't be officially visiting Florida this weekend, nor committing to the Gators, as he announced in a now-deleted tweet, archived above. ESPN's Derek Tyson and others confirmed the news.
This should surprise few who have followed Wilson, who has routinely made public comments suggesting Florida is his No. 1 school while seemingly being tied to Alabama and Georgia head coach/former Alabama defensive coordinator Kirby Smart more tightly than any other recruiter, during the course of his recruitment.
That he is blaming it on a miscommunication with his mother is intriguing — but, well, a recruit saying one thing for months and then abruptly altering plans based on some mysterious miscommunication doesn't really pass my smell test, as I'd suspect at least one of those things was a lie.
