Week 12 college football TV schedule and open thread

Here’s what to watch now that the Gators have won.

Colorado v Colorado State

This week ... well, this week is not the best on paper. But perhaps that means some chaos will ensue, like it did last week? Or maybe we already used up the excitement?

Florida was a part of one of the more interesting games on deck in Week 12. To be fair, there are two other ranked-on-ranked match-ups today as well, one in each viewing window, in addition to the Florida vs. LSU game that took place earlier, but are Washington State at Colorado and Oklahoma at West Virginia really doing it for you?

The Gators traveled to Baton Rouge today, to face the LSU Tigers, in a rescheduled game of much fanfare, with their SEC East title hopes on the line. And won.

Feel free to hang out in this thread while watching any of today’s later games.

Here are our picks for today’s viewing windows:

Afternoon (3:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Eastern)

Washington State at Colorado (3:30 p.m., FOX): Currently, the Buffaloes lead the Pac-12 South and the Cougars are atop the Pac-12 North. Yes, this is actually an important game in the Pac-12. Though neither of these teams finished with a winning season from 2006 to 2014, Wazzou turned it around in a nine win campaign last season, and both teams are already 8-2 this year. The No. 22 Cougs are the only Pac-12 team without a conference loss. Mike Leach’s team lost their first two, to Eastern Washington and Boise State, before reeling off eight straight wins The No. 10 Buffs’ only losses happened on the road, at Michigan and at USC.

Missouri at Tennessee (3:30 p.m., CBS): The No. 19 Volunteers host Missouri, who is fresh off their first SEC win of the season against Vanderbilt. If Florida falls to LSU, the Gators will be rooting for the Tigers to knock off the Vols so that they can clinch the SEC East.

FSU at Syracuse (3:30 p.m., ABC): If you want to scout next week’s opponent, you could watch the No. 17 Seminoles play a four-win Orange team - which may or may not be without their starting quarterback - in the Carrier Dome.

Evening (7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Eastern)

Arkansas at Mississippi State (7:00 p.m., ESPNU): The Razborbacks hit the road and head to Starkville. Both teams suffered lopsided losses against SEC West foes last week. The Bulldogs would need a win today, and a win next week in the Egg Bowl, to become bowl eligible. This game was wild last year, and ended 51-50 on a blocked field goal. Hopefully this year’s edition can prove to be entertaining as well.

Oklahoma at West Virginia (8:00 p.m., ABC): The two-loss Sooners, at No. 9, are ranked ahead of the one-loss No. 14 Mountaineers in the College Football Playoff Committee’s rankings, which is apparently a source of consternation for some. These two teams are two of the three in the Big-12 that are still in the race to win the conference. (The other is Oklahoma State.)

Ole Miss at Vanderbilt (8:00 p.m., SECN): This SEC cross-divisional rivalry does not have much at stake, besides each team’s bowl hopes. A win for the Rebels would make them bowl eligible. Ole Miss’ freshman quarterback Shae Patterson led his team to a comeback victory over Texas A&M last weekend in his first start for the injured Chad Kelly. Vandy would need to pick up this win, plus defeat Tennessee next week, in order to make a bowl for the first time under Derek Mason.
