When T.J. McCoy suddenly transferred from N.C. State to Florida in 2015, it was explained in part as a move meant to bring him closer to his ailing father, Tony, who had been dealing with the ill effects of a successful bout with cancer.
When T.J. McCoy was suddenly thrust into Florida’s starting lineup by injuries to Cameron Dillard and Tyler Jordan, it gave the younger McCoy a chance to follow in his father’s footsteps by doing something great on the field for the Gators.
When the younger McCoy and Florida upset LSU on Saturday, it was time for Tony — who starred as a defensive tackle for Florida in the Steve Spurrier era — to talk some mess.
And did he ever.
