Florida’s had good fortune in its all-orange uniforms over the last two years. So it’s not that big a surprise that the Gators are going with that combination against Alabama in Saturday’s SEC Championship Game.

It is surprising, of course. Florida has not worn orange in a non-bowl postseason game since Steve Spurrier’s arrival in Gainesville, and the Gators’ decision to wear orange against East Carolina in the 2015 Birmingham Bowl was a one-off call likely spearheaded by their seniors under interim head coach DJ Durkin.
Still: Arguably Florida’s most important wins of the last two years — against Mississippi in 2015 and against LSU in 2016 — have come in all-orange. And Florida has gone 4-0 in the selection to date under Jim McElwain, picking up another win against East Carolina in 2015 and putting on a dominant performance against Kentucky in a blowout win this September.
Old-school Florida fans may hate the orange. So far, though, new-school Florida wins in it.
(Oh, and don’t let the coolest part of the video above — Jarrad Davis’s locker being shown — be lost on you, either.)
