Pineiro shines in kicking debut: When is the last time you remember anyone being so excited about a kicker? Finishing next to last in the FBS in field goal completion rate (42%) will do that to a fan base. Pineiro made all five of his extra-point attempts, eight of his nine kickoffs were touchbacks, and he made three out of five field goal attempts. However, as Jim McElwain noted, none of those field goal attempts were chip shots. Pineiro made field goals of 52, 46, and a spring game record 56 yards. He missed attempts of 53 and 52 yards wide right but both had the distance. (Scott Carter, Florida Gators; Pat Dooley, Gainesville Sun; Matt Murschel, Orlando Sentinel)
Luke Del Rio takes lead in quarterback competition: I think it's pretty safe to assume that Del Rio will be the starter for the Gators. Del Rio was 10 of 11 for 176 yards and two touchdowns on Friday night while leading the first team offense. (Zach Abolverdi, SEC Country; Ian Cohen, Independent Florida Alligator; Edgar Thompson, Orlando Sentinel)
Kylan Johnson helping Gators build depth at linebacker: Johnson intercepted a low pass from Feleipe Franks during Friday's Orange and Blue Debut and played exclusively with the first team defense. Johnson finished the game with a game-high eight tackles, six solo, and a quarterback hurry, in addition to the interception. (Jordan McPherson, Orlando Sentinel)
Jim McElwain happy with Duke Dawson's progress: Dawson recorded two interceptions in Friday's spring game, including one that he returned for a touchdown. McElwain stated that Dawson was excelling at nickel and corner and was "obviously going to play a ton." (Zach Abolverdi, SEC Country)
Softball sweeps Ole Miss: The Gators swept the Rebels for the ninth time in their series history, and recorded their third SEC series sweep of the season. Aleshia Ocasio is now three strikeouts away from reaching 100 for the second straight season. Ocasio's 0.45 ERA would be the best ERA for a single season in Florida history if the season ended today. The Gators will be at home Wednesday for a midweek game against No. 9 Florida State. (Will Pantages, Florida Gators; Gainesville Sun)
Gators drop series to Mississippi State: The No. 10 Bulldogs took the series with a 2-1 win over No. 1 Florida on Sunday. The Gators were defeated at home for the first time this season, ending their then 29-game home winning streak. Florida travels to Tallahassee to play No. 8 Florida State for the final time in the regular season. (John Hines, Florida Gators; Aaron Brand, Gainesville Sun)
No. 2 Florida lacrosse defeats Georgetown, 14-7: The Gators improved to 12-1 on the season and 3-0 in Big East play. All 29 available Gator players saw action against the Hoyas. (Kelly Sobers, Florida Gators)
Three arrested for stealing jerseys from Ben Hill Griffin Stadium locker room: Prior to Friday night's Orange and Blue Debut, three men were arrested after they got into the locker room and stole two jerseys, valued at $200 each, according to the UF Police Department. (Cindy Swirko, Gainesville Sun)
