Chomping at Bits: Florida softball defeats Ole Miss, moves on in SEC tournament

After a three hour rain delay, the No. 1 Gators edged the Rebels 1-0.

No. 1 Florida defeats Ole Miss, 1-0: The top-seeded Gators scored the game's only run in the bottom of the fifth to take the 1-0 win over the ninth-seeded Rebels. The game was interrupted by a three hour and 15 minute weather delay in the top of the third. Florida will play in today's semifinal against either Alabama or Auburn. The quarterfinal between those two teams was postponed until today due to the weather. The Gators received their SEC championship trophy before the game. No. 1 Gators baseball hosts series with Vanderbilt this weekend: Florida opens their three-game series with the No. 12 Commodores tonight. The Gators will close their regular season playing two of the SEC's top teams. After Vanderbilt, Florida travels to No. 16 LSU next weekend. Four UF baseball players to join 2016 USA Baseball Collegiate National Team: Alex Faedo, Dalton Guthrie, Mike Rivera, and JJ Schwarz have accepted invitations to play. The 24-player team will play a two-month tour in June and July. (Daniel Apple, Florida Gators)

Mike White has Florida basketball headed in the right direction: The Gators were "probably one pure scorer away" from reaching the tournament last season and the addition of Canyon Barry, and Florida's deceptively loaded roster, should help Florida make a run at a tournament bid this year. Gators add another satellite camp to list: We are not quite at Michigan levels yet but Florida appears to have added another camp to their list. The Gators reportedly will be involved in a camp at Blount High School in Mobile, Alabama, on June 17. Blount High School is home to recent 2017 Florida commit Kadarius Toney. No. 2 UF lacrosse begins NCAA tournament on Sunday: The Big East tournament champion Gators are the No. 2 overall seed in the 26-team tournament.
