The 2016 College World Series kicks off today in Omaha at TD Ameritrade Park, where the series has been held since 2011. The Gators are there for the second year in a row, and are one of only three of the eight national seeds from the NCAA tournament to make it through. Pitching should be a factor in these games as 13 of the pitchers in Omaha were drafted in the first ten rounds of the MLB Draft. Six of those pitchers are Gators and five of them were drafted in the first four rounds.
This is the year many fans expect Florida to win it all. The Gators are the odds-on favorite to win the series, followed by Miami, and both are widely expected to be the teams that emerge from their respective brackets. Below are the games scheduled for this weekend. Games will continue through the week, with the teams announced later based on results.
