Do you want to talk about baseball or nah?

Steven Branscombe-USA TODAY Sports

Hello Alligator Army folks!

Welcome to the latest installment of the Alligator Army Weekly Open Thread. As usual, this thread is for you to discuss whatever your heart desires (within reason) with the informal rules of commenting decorum still applying.

Here is where I would normally attempt to drum up excitement about the Gators playing in the College World Series, but methinks that excitement is not the term that many of you would choose to describe your current feelings (and I really don't want to encourage more trips to the doldrums, frankly). Florida is down, but not out, as the Gators certainly have the capability to come back and rattle off wins.

Baseball is a fickle sport and this year's tournament has already been an unpredictable one, with original championship favorite Louisville losing in their Super Regional to UC Santa Barbara and only three of the eight national seeds (Florida, Miami, and Texas Tech) making it to Omaha. And all three of those national seeds are now in the loser's bracket with no margin for error. Meanwhile, the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers (which is apparently "a proud and fierce rooster" from Chaucer's Canterbury Tales) and UC Santa Barbara Gauchos are playing in their first ever College World Series, with one of them (unfortunately) picking up a win this weekend.

But you need not talk about baseball here if your heart isn't in it.
