Gators have many options and ongoing competition at running back: Listed starters Jordan Cronkrite, Jordan Scarlett, and Mark Thompson, and back-ups Lamical Perine and Mark Herndon, will be a part of Florida’s rotation at running back. Florida running backs coach Tim Skipper said all five of them will play on Saturday and will have the chance to show that they have the “hot hand.” (Robbie Andreu, Gainesville Sun; Zach Abolverdi, SEC Country; Edgar Thompson, Orlando Sentinel)

Profiles on Florida’s running back Jordans: Jordan Scarlett and Jordan Cronkrite are both from South Florida, both sophomore running backs, and both (obviously) named Jordan. The two have become friends even though they are competing for carries. (Matt Baker, Tampa Bay Times; Jordan McPherson, Miami Herald)

C.J. Worton ruled out for opener with ankle injury: Worton has a high-ankle sprain. DeAndre Goolsby has also been banged up so sophomores Camrin Knight and Moral Stephens may see more playing time at tight end on Saturday with C’yontai Lewis suspended. (Edgar Thompson, Orlando Sentinel; Ryan Young, SEC Country; Thomas Goldkamp, 247 Sports)

Jim McElwain declines to name fifth suspended player for opener: McElwain had stated on Monday that a senior was suspended but did not disclose a name. He was asked about it again yesterday and gave a lengthy response about educating and protecting players. (Zach Abolverdi, SEC Country; Florida Times Union)

Profiles of Duke Dawson: The junior is expected to serve many roles in the secondary this season. Dawson will be filling in at corner some on Saturday due to Teez Tabor’s suspension but should see most of his time this season as the team’s starting nickelback. (Kevin Brockway, Gainesville Sun; Ryan Young, SEC Country)

Writers who covered Florida in 1990 recall Steve Spurrier returning to UF to coach the Gators: Eleven writers share their memories. (Chris Harry, Florida Gators)

Gator Talk with Jim McElwain begins tonight: Last week the Gator Talk program featured Jeremy Foley and Steve Spurrier but for the rest of the season Jim McElwain will be at the table. His guest tonight is Doug Nussmeier. (Will Pantages, Florida Gators)

Luke Del Rio was high school teammates with Stanford running back Christian McCaffrey: The two played one year together. (Scott Carter, Florida Gators)

Team helmets in rival colors: Go through the slideshow if you want to experience the horror of orange and blue FSU and UGA helmets or a garnet and gold Gators helmet. (Jason Kirk, SB Nation)
