Florida vs. Kentucky, Game Thread: 25 predictions about orange and blue

Orange won’t leave us blue today, hopefully.

Look: Florida’s game against Kentucky on this Saturday (3:30 p.m., CBS or CBSSports.com) should not end with anything other than a Gators win.

Florida has been better than Kentucky almost without exception over the last 29 years of its absurd winning streak, and the Gators look to be better again this year, with predictive stats and Las Vegas both seeing them as two-touchdown favorites over the Wildcats. And if this streak is going to end — and, someday, it will — my gut still growls that it won’t do so in Gainesville.

But Florida bringing back as many of the beloved Oh-Fours — and the coaches who helped make them champions — as possible for this game against Kentucky shouldn’t blow up in the Gators’ face any more than dedicating Steve Spurrier Field in a game that wasn’t the predicted walkover did, right? And if it does, which I doubt, we’ll have a much bigger conundrum on our hands than why Florida’s administration tempted fate.

So my thinking today is that the Gators are going to roll. And that the Gator Boys will be hot tonight after spending today in the cauldron that is The Swamp.

Here are my 25 predictions for Florida-Kentucky.

  1. Both teams will score in double figures.
  2. Florida will get to double figures in the first half.
  3. Florida will lead by at least seven points at halftime.
  4. Luke Del Rio will throw at least two touchdown passes.
  5. Del Rio will throw at least one interception.
  6. Del Rio will be the only Florida QB to throw a pass.
  7. Jordan Scarlett will lead Florida in rushing yards.
  8. Other Florida rushers will total at least 75 yards combined.
  9. Antonio Callaway will get a carry.
  10. Tyrie Cleveland will make a catch.
  11. A Florida tight end will make a catch of more than 20 yards.
  12. Callaway will also return a kick.
  13. Caleb Brantley will record at least two tackles for loss.
  14. CeCe Jefferson will record at least one sack.
  15. Jarrad Davis will lead Florida in tackles.
  16. At least two of Kylan Johnson, Rayshad Jackson, and Vosean Joseph will record tackles.
  17. Teez Tabor will not make a big play on defense.
  18. Quincy Wilson will make a big play on defense.
  19. Marcus Maye will make a big play on defense.
  20. Kentucky’s Drew Barker will throw for more than 200 yards.
  21. Florida’s defense will allow fewer than 5.0 yards per play.
  22. Florida will force at least one turnover.
  23. Florida will win the turnover battle.
  24. Eddy Pineiro will make a field goal of at least 45 yards.
  25. Florida will win, 34-17.
