For its third game of the 2016 season, Florida will wear its third distinct uniform combination. This one, though, is rare: The Gators will don blue uniforms and orange pants on this evening.

Florida doesn’t have much of a recent history in blue tops and orange pants, having worn them just once since 2005, when the school’s official records of uniform selection begin. And that game didn’t produce a good memory: It was Florida’s 33-23 loss to Louisville in the 2013 Sugar Bowl, a bittersweet end to an excellent 2012 season.
But I was there that night, and, well, the Gators looked bad, but they also looked good. Florida’s blue and orange contrast beautifully, and the combination has been a winning one for teams like Florida’s softball and volleyball teams for years and years.
So I’m excited to see Florida look sartorially and football-ly superior to the Mean Green on this Saturday night.
