Late Friday, rumors flew that the Florida Gators would debut a new look — their 2015-debuted white helmets with white jerseys and white pants — at Tennessee on this Saturday.

On Saturday morning, via Florida’s official equipment staff Twitter account, those rumors came true.

Florida’s worn these white helmets just twice before, in a victory over Vanderbilt and a loss to Florida State in 2015, pairing them with orange and blue uniforms in those two games. The Gators also wore special white Nike Pro Combat helmets in 2009 in a win over Florida State and an SEC Championship Game loss to Alabama.

That 2009 SEC Championship Game was Florida’s only previous use of white helmets with white uniforms and white pants in the modern era.

The white uniforms and white pants are less rare in combination. The Gators have worn them 23 times since 2005, compiling a 15-8 record in their white-on-white duds, and won a national title in them in January 2009.

Florida has also worn them at Tennessee in its last two trips to Knoxville.
