Florida vs. LSU: Tyrie Cleveland appears on Gators’ depth chart despite injury

Is there hope that the Gators’ star wideout will be available on Saturday?

Florida Gators coach Jim McElwain told reporters on Monday that sophomore wide receiver Tyrie Cleveland was “expected to be out” for Saturday’s game against LSU with a high ankle sprain suffered against Vanderbilt.

But it’s Tuesday now — and Cleveland is on the Gators’ unofficial depth chart for LSU.

And, okay, sure: Cleveland is listed as sharing the backup spot at one wide receiver position with freshman Daquon Green, who has played so sparingly this year he does not yet have a catch, and not as a starter.

But combine Cleveland’s own insistence that he’s “just bang(ed) up” with McElwain’s tendency this season to project players as out before being proved wrong...

...and you have reason to cling to the possibility that Cleveland will make an utterly stunning one-week recovery from a high ankle sprain and play against the team he dusted for a 98-yard touchdown pass in 2016.

Hope is fun, ain’t it?
