Weekend Open Thread: Alligator athletic activities

Follow all the Gator teams in action this weekend.

As usual, there are plenty of Florida Gator sports teams competing this weekend, both in Gainesville and around the south. Florida’s baseball and softball teams hit the road for weekend series with SEC competition, both golf teams compete at events, track and field hosts the Pepsi Florida Relays, and the gymnastics team hosts and competes in a NCAA Championship Regional.

Below you’ll find what is happening in Gator sports this weekend, as well as how to follow along.

Friday, March 31

Men’s golf
Mason Rudolph Championship, All day: Florida’s men’s golf team will be in Tennessee this weekend, competing in the Mason Rudolph Championship, which is hosted by Vanderbilt. The team finished in second place at the event last year, with two players taking the top two spots.

Women’s golf
Clemson Invitational, All day: The Gators hope to defend their Clemson Invitational title this weekend. Last season, Florida won the event by one stroke, with two players finishing in the top-five.

Track and field
Pepsi Florida Relays, All Day: The 73rd annual Pepsi Florida Relays continue today, after opening with a light schedule of events on Thursday. The No. 1 Florida men’s team, and No. 6 Florida women’s team, have welcomed several nationally ranked teams to Gainesville for the event.

Women’s tennis
Florida vs. Alabama, 5:00 p.m. (Stats): The top-ranked Gators host the Crimson Tide tonight. Alabama’s only win against Florida in the series history was a 4-3 decision in March 2014 in Tuscaloosa. The Gators are playing their first home match since March 19.

Softball
Florida vs. Arkansas, 7:00 p.m. (SEC Network+/WatchESPN, Listen, Stats): Tonight the Gators begin a three-game weekend series with the Razorbacks. Florida sits atop the SEC standings presently after three weekends of conference competition, while the Hogs are in a tie for tenth place with South Carolina. Should the Gators win tonight, it would be the 1,000th win for the program.

Baseball
Florida vs. Missouri, 7:30 p.m. (SEC Network+/WatchESPN, Listen, Stats): The Gators hit the road for a three-game series with the Tigers in Columbia. Since being swept at Auburn to open SEC conference play, Florida is 4-1 with three wins over top-ten opponents (two wins over No. 4 LSU and one win over No. 10 Florida State).

Saturday, April 1

Men’s golf
Mason Rudolph Championship, All day: The No. 4 Gators continue playing in this Vanderbilt hosted event. Florida won their last competition, at the Schenkel Invitational, giving the Gators four victories on the season. That is the most that Florida has had since it’s 2010-11 season.

Women’s golf
Clemson Invitational, All day: The No. 5 Florida women continue competing at this weekend’s event. Six other top-30 teams are also participating in the competition.

Track and field
Pepsi Florida Relays, All Day (SEC Network+/WatchESPN, Stats): Competition concludes on Saturday in Gainesville, with all final events taking place that day.

Lacrosse
Florida vs. Vanderbilt. 12:00 p.m. (Watch, Listen, Stats): The Gators dropped their first away game of the season last week, at No. 1 Maryland. It was Florida’s first loss since their opener against then-No. 1 UNC. The Gators return home this weekend to face Big East rival Vanderbilt.

Men’s tennis
Florida vs. Kentucky, 1:00 p.m.: The No. 12 Gators head to Lexington coming off of a sweep of Alabama in Tuscaloosa. Florida will face the No. 24 Wildcats, who are currently on a two-match losing streak. The Gators have won ten of the last 13 matches in the series with Kentucky.

Softball
Florida vs. Arkansas, 2:00 p.m. (SEC Network+/WatchESPN, Listen, Stats): The Gators take the field for the second of three games against the Razorbacks. Florida came into this weekend with a 24-game win streak over Arkansas.

Baseball
Florida vs. Missouri, 3:00 p.m. (SEC Network+/WatchESPN, Listen, Stats): The Gators continue their series with the Tigers. Missouri is off to one of its best starts in school history. They entered the weekend with a 21-4 record, and were 4-2 in SEC play.

Gymnastics
NCAA Gainesville Gymnastics Regional, 4:00 p.m. (SEC Network+/WatchESPN, Stats): Florida hosts a six team field for regional competition. The top two teams and top two all-around competitors (who are not on an advancing team) from each site will advance to the NCAA Championships. No. 3 Florida’s field includes No. 10 Georgia, No. 15 Missouri, No. 30 New Hampshire, No. 33 Penn State, and No. 35 North Carolina. A top-two team finish would send the Gators to their 35th NCAA Championship.

Sunday, April 2

Men’s golf
Mason Rudolph Championship, All day: Florida continues its final day of competition in the three-day 54-hole Mason Rudolph Championship event.

Women’s golf
Clemson Invitational, All day: Florida concludes action in the Clemson Invitational. The Gators last competed two weeks ago at the Briar’s Creek Invitational, taking home both the team and individual titles.

Women’s tennis
Florida vs. Auburn, 12:00 p.m. (Watch, Stats): The Gators continue home play, this time against the other SEC team from the Yellowhammer State, the Auburn Tigers. This will be the Gators’ second home match of a four match streak that constitutes Florida’s final regular-season matches at the Ring Tennis Complex.

Baseball
Florida vs. Missouri, 2:00 p.m. (SEC Network+/WatchESPN, Listen, Stats): The Gators wrap up their weekend series with the Tigers. Florida entered the weekend with a 14-4 all-time series lead against Mizzou.

Softball
Florida vs. Arkansas, 2:00 p.m. (SEC Network+/WatchESPN, Listen, Stats): The series between the Gators and the Razorbacks concludes. Entering this weekend, Florida led the nation in ERA (0.78) and fielding percentage (0.989).
