Gator softball sweeps weekend series with Ole Miss: Florida triumphed over the Rebels in their final home SEC series of the season. The No. 1 Gators opened the weekend with a 2-0 defeat of No. 18 Ole Miss on Friday, with Kelly Barnhill tying her season strikeout high (16). Florida followed up that win with another on Saturday, recording a 3-0 victory to clinch the series - which marked the 11th straight SEC series victory for the Gators. Florida baseball takes series over South Carolina: The Gators started off the three-game top-25 match-up with a 1-0 win on Thursday night, behind an inspired pitching performance from Alex Faedo. The Gamecocks evened the series with the Gators however, with a 4-2 South Carolina victory on Friday. In that game, Brady Singer allowed his first home run in his Florida career - a career which spanned 108.1 innings. The Gators rebounded to take the series on Saturday when JJ Schwarz hit a game-winning grand slam in the bottom of the eighth to guide Florida to a 7-5 victory.
