Nelson Maldonado should be available on Tuesday: Maldonado injured his right ankle rounding third base in the fifth inning last night. He stayed in the game for two more innings but eventually went out. Maldonado was in a walking boot in the locker room, but the Gators believe he will be able to play against Louisville. (Nick Suss, SEC Country; Nick de la Torre, Gator Country)
Alex Faedo shines in Florida’s College World Series opener win: The junior delivered one of the best outings of his career on Sunday night, pitching seven shutout innings and limiting TCU to just two hits. (Scott Carter, Florida Gators; Nick Suss, SEC Country; Teddy Cahill, Baseball America)
Faedo rises to the occasion: Five D1Baseball All-Americans started in the first four CWS games, but only one of them pitched like an All-American. (Aaron Fitt, D1Baseball.com)
