Florida football is underway for 2017.

Chomping at Bits comes stocked with the best Florida Gators links and news we can find, and some other stuff. Got a link you think we should check out? Email us at, subject line CAB, or find us on Twitter at @AlligatorArmy or on Facebook at

Gators open fall camp: Feleipe Franks took the first reps at quarterback, but Malik Zaire and Luke Del Rio also threw with the first team. (Robbie Andreu, Gainesville Sun; Ryan Young, SEC Country)

Observations from Florida’s first practice: There’s even a mention of Harry Gornto in there for you guys. (Jordan McPherson, SEC Country)

Jordan Scarlett preparing for feature back role: The junior running back is in shape and ready for the season. (Chris Harry, Florida Gators)

Jim McElwain praises freshmen: He notes that the Gators did a good job with recruiting this year. (Ryan Young, SEC Country)

Chauncey Gardner begins practice at cornerback: As Jim McElwain mentioned at Florida’s Media Day, the sophomore will work on the outside, despite Marcell Harrisseason-ending injury. McElwain elaborated that Gardner can also play at nickel and safety, but has spent the least amount of time at corner, and thus they will try to get him reps there early on in camp. (Robbie Andreu, Gainesville Sun)

Profile of Taven Bryan: The redshirt junior from Wyoming will be counted on to step up on the defensive line. (Pat Dooley, Gainesville Sun)

And here’s a little Happy Friday clip of Batesy, complete with a bit of a Spurrier impression:
