Week 12 college football TV schedule and open thread

Here’s what to watch now that the Gators have played.

Once again, we’re in a week with a somewhat sleepy Saturday slate of games. The SEC schedule in particular is pretty low drama but there are a few other match-ups of note around the nation.

Now that the Florida Gators have left the field after a dominating home win over Idaho, settle in and see if anything gets interesting in the rest of the day’s games.

Hear me out - it could happen! The Citadel and No. 1 Alabama were actually tied at the half, and as of this posting Maryland is up on No. 10 Ohio State in the final minutes of the fourth quarter!

Here are our picks for today’s viewing windows:

Afternoon (3:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Eastern)

Notre Dame at Syracuse (2:30 p.m., NBC): Yes, this game technically starts outside the established time for the afternoon viewing window, but it’s one of the more notable contests of the day. The No. 3 Irish and No. 12 Orange are playing at Yankee Stadium for some reason.

West Virginia at Oklahoma State (3:30 p.m., ABC): Wistfully watch Will Grier and the No. 9 Mountaineers get into a surefire shootout with the Cowboys. OSU held their own with Oklahoma in Bedlam last week and could test the ‘Eers in Stillwater.

Boston College at Florida State (3:30 p.m., ESPN2): After losing their starting quarterback last week against Clemson, the No. 20 Eagles may struggle a bit on the road in Tallahassee. The Seminoles need this win if they want to have to have a chance to make a bowl game.

In other games: At 3:30 p.m. there’s an SEC East match-up with Missouri visiting improving Tennessee (CBS) and rivals USC and UCLA (FOX) try to wring something out of disappointing seasons.

Evening (7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Eastern)

Duke at Clemson (7:00 p.m., ESPN): The Blue Devils aren’t terrible, so this one might be interesting for a minute before the No. 2 Tigers run away with it.

Cincinnati at Central Florida (8:00 p.m., ABC): College GameDay was in Orlando this morning visiting the No. 11 Knights. UCF is hosting the newly ranked No. 24 Bearcats, who boast the best record (9-1) and best defense of any team the undefeated Knights have played so far this season.

Arizona at Washington State (10:30 p.m., ESPN): If you like offense, this may be the late night option for you. An improving Arizona squad visits Pullman and the No. 8 Cougars.

In other games: A good UAB team visits Texas A&M (7:00 p.m., ESPN2), Ole Miss hosts Vanderbilt (7:30 p.m., SECN), and No. 16 Iowa State is at No. 15 Texas (8:00 p.m., LHN) for a game which I would have put on the watch list above were it not airing on the Longhorn Network.

And here is your schedule table for today’s games.
