Week 10 college football TV schedule and open thread

Today’s college football schedule is loaded with big games, starting this afternoon and continuing this evening. Kentucky and Georgia meet to decide the SEC East, with LSU and Alabama in the spotlight fighting to take possession of the SEC West.

For their part, the Florida Gators are in action this afternoon, hosting Missouri for homecoming at 4:00 p.m. on the SEC Network.

Here are our picks for today’s viewing windows:

Early (12:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., Eastern)

Texas A&M at Auburn (12:00 p.m., ESPN): The No. 20 Aggies and the Auburn Tigers each try to stave off a fourth loss. Texas A&M is adjusting to their new highly paid first year coach, while Auburn is still upset with their high paid head man and the way their season is going given preseason expectations.

South Carolina at Ole Miss (12:00 p.m., SECN): Scout Florida’s next opponent when Will Muschamp and company travel to Oxford to face the defensively challenged Rebels.

Nebraska at Ohio State (12:00 p.m., FOX): The No. 10 Buckeyes will look to bounce back from their loss to Purdue after having last week off. The noon slate, as usual, isn’t the best.

In other games: If you enjoyed No. 2 Clemson thrashing FSU last week, watch the sequel today when Louisville visits the Tigers (ABC).

Afternoon (3:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Eastern)

You will of course be watching Florida vs. Missouri at 4:00 p.m. on the SEC Network.

In other games: There are a lot of big games in the afternoon spot today. You can catch the first half hour of these games (3:30 p.m.) before the Gators take the field: No. 6 Georgia at No. 9 Kentucky (CBS) in the battle for the SEC East, a ranked Big-12 match-up with No. 13 West Virginia at No. 17 Texas (FOX), and a Big Ten battle between No. 14 Penn State at No. 5 Michigan (ESPN).

Evening (7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Eastern)

Notre Dame at Northwestern (7:15 p.m., ESPN): The No. 4 Irish try to stay undefeated and in playoff contention on the road against the surprising Wildcats, who lead the Big Ten West.

Alabama at LSU (8:00 p.m., CBS): The biggest contest of the day involves the No. 1 Tide at the No. 3 Tigers in a game which many hope will be close but few expect to really be.

Oklahoma at Texas Tech (8:00 p.m., ABC): If Bama-LSU turns into an tedious slog, there is always the No. 7 Sooners at the Red Raiders - a game which should turn into a shootout.

In other games: On the west coast, Chip Kelly and UCLA go back to Oregon (7:00 p.m., FOX), and Cal tries for a state of Washington sweep at No. 8 Washington State (10:45 p.m., ESPN).
