Weekend Open Thread: Gators on the road

All of the events involving Florida teams this weekend are away from Gainesville.

There is quite a bit of Florida Gators action for you to follow along with this weekend - but all of the events are occurring away from Gainesville. Gator gymnastics is competing at NCAA Regionals, and both the baseball and softball teams have road SEC series.

Below you’ll find what is happening in Gator sports this weekend, as well as how to follow along.

Friday, April 6

Baseball
Florida vs. Tennessee, 6:30 p.m.: The No. 1 Gators and their seven game winning streak go to Knoxville for the weekend. Florida’s 25-5 start to the season is the second-best for a defending national champion over the last 20 years - only 2010 LSU had a better start (at 26-4).

Men’s tennis
Florida vs. Texas A&M, 7:00 p.m.: For the second straight weekend, the Gators take on a top-five team. Florida enters the match with the Aggies with a 13-7 overall record and a 7-2 mark in the SEC.

Saturday, April 7

Women's tennis
Florida vs. South Carolina, 9:00 a.m.: Still in the hunt for the SEC title, the No. 12 Gators travel to Columbia to face the No. 5 Gamecocks. Florida, South Carolina, Vanderbilt, and Georgia are all still in SEC regular-season title contention - and all four teams play each other during these final two weeks of the regular season.

Softball
Florida vs. Alabama, 1:00 p.m.: The No. 4 Gators travel to Tuscaloosa for an important SEC series with the No. 15 Crimson Tide. Florida hopes to rebound after a 1-0 loss to UCF on Wednesday.

Gymnastics
NCAA Regional Championships, 4:00 p.m.: Florida competes at Penn State in the NCAA University Park Regional. The Gators would need to be one of the top two teams at the meet to advance to the NCAA Championships in St. Louis.

Baseball
Florida vs. Tennessee, 6:00 p.m.: The top-ranked Gators continue their weekend SEC series with the Vols. Coming into this weekend, Florida was 150-84 all-time against Tennessee, with the Gators going 20-10 against the Volunteers under Kevin O’Sullivan (and 8-2 in weekend series).

Sunday, April 8

Baseball
Florida vs. Tennessee, 12:00 p.m.: The Gators conclude their away series with the Vols. Coming into this weekend, Florida had 47 home runs on the season - 25 more than they had through 31 games last season.

Lacrosse
Florida vs. Villanova, 1:00 p.m.: Normally, the Gators would be playing on Saturday but due to predicted snow in Philadelphia the game has been moved to Sunday. Check Florida lacrosse’s Twitter account for additional updates.

Men’s tennis
Florida vs. LSU, 1:00 p.m.: The Gators are still on the road, heading from College Station to Baton Rouge to take on the Tigers. Coming into the weekend, Florida was 4-3 on the road.

Softball
Florida vs. Alabama, 3:00 p.m.: Game two of a three-game series (which concludes Monday) is on deck for the Gators. Prior to this weekend, these two programs last met in the Super Regional round of last year’s NCAA tournament, which the Gators won to advance to the Women’s College Series.
