You'll notice a much lighter Florida Gators sports schedule this weekend, as several sports have wrapped regular season and conference tournament play - and await national tournaments. This weekend, the lacrosse team tries for a tournament title on Saturday, while Florida's baseball and softball Gators travel for road SEC series. Softball is closing out their regular season, while baseball competes in another top-25 match-up.
Below you’ll find what is happening in Gator sports this weekend, as well as how to follow along.
Friday, May 4
Baseball
Florida vs. Texas A&M, 7:30 p.m.: Another ranked series awaits the top-ranked Gators this weekend as they visit the No. 18 Aggies. Coming into the weekend, Florida is tied 4-4 all-time with the 'Ags. (I'd encourage monitoring the Gators' Twitter account as there may be weather related schedule changes.)
Softball
Florida vs. Missouri, 8:00 p.m.: Concluding their regular season on the road, the No. 4 Gators are in the hunt for their fourth consecutive SEC regular season title. Florida currently has a two-game lead on the rest of the field.
Saturday, May 5
Lacrosse
Florida vs. Denver, Big East Tournament Championship, 12:00 p.m.: On Saturday afternoon, the Gators host the Pioneers seeking their fourth consecutive conference tournament title. These two programs met last month in the regular season, where Florida emerged victorious.
Softball
Florida vs. Missouri, 3:00 p.m.: Competition in Columbia continues. Next week's SEC Softball Tournament will also be held at Mizzou.
Baseball
Florida vs. Texas A&M, 5:00 p.m.: The Gators continue competition with the Aggies. Coming into this weekend, Florida had won 17 regular season series, dating back to last season. The Gators have seven sweeps during that span.
Sunday, May 6
Baseball
Florida vs. Texas A&M, 1:00 p.m.: The Gators conclude their run in College Station. No. 1 Florida has appeared in 65-straight USA Today polls - the longest active streak in the nation.
Softball
Florida vs. Missouri, 3:00 p.m.: The regular season ends for the Gators in Sunday's series finale. Coming into the weekend, Florida led the SEC in fielding percentage, base percentage, on-base percentage, scoring, strikeout-to-walk ratio, and win/loss percentage — the Gators are also within the top-ten nationally in all of those categories.
And here are your schedule tables for this weekend’s events.
