The Alligator Army Weekly Open Thread, Vol. LXVIII

We’re still getting back in the swing of things. Would you like to help?

NCAA Football: SEC Football Media Day Dale Zanine-USA TODAY Sports

Just a short Weekly Open Thread this week, I’m afraid. And it’s one full of the least fun thing about posting words on the Internet: Housekeeping.

First, I do have more content coming this week, on football recruiting and on whether Nick Savage’s strength and conditioning program might be the rare one that makes an actual difference for a team. I might, if I can get to them, also touch on Florida’s all-sports success and the Gators’ non-conference men’s (and women’s) basketball schedules. But football’s going to take priority, especially with Friday Night Lights coming at the end of this week.

Second, and related: I will be reiterating my call for writers from last week every week in this space until late August. I’ve gotten emails from some folks whom I’ll be replying to by the end of day on Tuesday, and they’ve been promising, but I’d also like to emphasize that a) writing well is something I hope you can do and want to do and b) any emphasis on the budget I have to pay contributors should be on it being small.

And I want, also, to note that I will be especially intrigued by perspectives and vantages that are different from mine. Y’all have heard my voice here at Alligator Army for going on eight years now, and you deserve thoughts from people who aren’t me and aren’t, like, doing bad impressions of me while also being laughably homeriffic, and especially from people from different backgrounds than mine. An army is not one man. A chorus is not one voice. And even more than I want you to be able to read words that aren’t mine around these parts, I want to read those words.

So, again: Hit me up.

That’s what’s on my mind. What’s on yours?
