Week 3 college football TV schedule and open thread

Here’s what to watch before and after the Gators play.

For the third year in a row, a storm event has altered the college football landscape. As Hurricane Florence makes its way through the Carolinas, several games have been cancelled and a few have also been postponed.

As you wait for the Florida Gators to redeem themselves on the field this afternoon, feel free to hang out in this thread while watching any of today’s games — before or after Florida plays.

Here are our picks for today’s viewing windows:

Early (12:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., Eastern)

Oklahoma at Iowa State (12:00 p.m., ABC): The noon shift might not be the most exciting today, but surely the Sooners will want to put their best foot forward in Ames and avenge their lone regular-season loss last year.

Florida State at Syracuse (12:00 p.m., ESPN): Will FSU extend their win streak over ‘Cuse to 11? Or will the Seminoles fall victim to the Orange in the Carrier Dome and start their season 0-2 in conference play?

Vanderbilt at Notre Dame (2:30 p.m., NBC): These two teams have only played twice – both times in the mid-1990s. Both teams have won their first two games and the Commodores have defeated their pair of opponents by a combined score of 76-17 and shouldn’t be counted out against the Irish.

In other games: Also at noon, Georgia Southern plays at second-ranked Clemson and Kent State is at No. 11 Penn State.

Afternoon (3:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Eastern)

Obviously, you will be watching the Florida Gators host the Colorado State Rams, at 4:00 p.m. on the SEC Network.

In other games: There are some big match-ups in the afternoon shift with the Gators, including LSU at Auburn (3:30 p.m., CBS), Boise State at Oklahoma State (3:30 p.m., ESPN), and BYU at Wisconsin (ABC).

Evening (7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Eastern)

Alabama at Ole Miss (7:00 p.m., ESPN): Much has been (and, during the broadcast, will be) made of the Rebels having some recent wins against the Tide, but Ole Miss is fielding a much different team this year – and one that hasn’t shown much defense to date.

Ohio State vs. TCU (8:00 p.m., ABC): One of the marquee non-conference match-ups this season features the Buckeyes traveling to Texas. This is the final game of Urban Meyer’s suspension, so interim coach Ryan Day will lead OSU against the Horned Frogs.

USC at Texas (8:00 p.m., FOX): Two big-name programs take the field in primetime, but neither school has impressed on the field so far in this young season.

In other games: Missouri visits Purdue, where points may fly (7:30 p.m., BTN), and the late shift features Washington at Utah (10:00 p.m., ESPN).

And here is your schedule table for today’s games.
