The Florida Gators have partially made up for a slow start in recruiting for the 2019 cycle in recent weeks, picking up steam since their Friday Night Lights camp in July.

On Thursday, that momentum continued, as Florida picked up a commitment from four-star cornerback Jaydon Hill.

Your opinions on commitments via video aside, Hill — who hails from Madison, Alabama — is another big commitment for the Gators, who beat out Tennessee for the four-star corner’s pledge. At 6’0” and 170ish pounds, Hill isn’t a big-bodied corner, but he’s quick, instinctive, and physical in his highlights — and those three things can compensate for plenty at the position.

Hill is Florida’s fifth commitment since Friday Night Lights, and the fourth of those commits to be assessed as a four-star player by the 247Sports Composite ranking. His pledge pushes Florida into the top 20 in class rankings for the first time since the flurry of decommitments around Jim McElwain’s firing essentially wiped the slate on what had been the nation’s No. 1 contingent of 2019 pledges at one point in 2017.
